INFO for ART COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS

 Eligibility:  The Competitive Art Exhibition is open only to current and former Union Parish residents, including professionals, amateurs, and youth in grades 9 through 12.

Judging:  Juror will be Vitus Shell, assistant visiting art professor at Louisiana Tech University and renowned urban artist. 

Fees:  $15 for professional artists; $10 for amateur artists; free for youth.  Each artist may exhibit three (3) works.  Additional adult works may be displayed for an additional fee of $5 per work, with a maximum of six (6) total works.  Checks should be made payable to the Union Arts Council. 

Size/Hanging: All adult 2-D works MUST be ready to hang with secure wire attached to the back.  No saw tooth hangers will be accepted.  All framed artwork MUST be under Plexiglas, with the exception of oils and acrylics.  Maximum size is 36” wide (for wider artworks, bring your own easel).  Youth art works may be unframed and will be displayed on tables.

Awards: Ribbons and cash awards in each category and for the People’s Choice winner.

FOUR Categories & regulations:  2-Dimensional Fine Art (painting, drawing, printmaking),  3-Dimensional Fine Art  (sculpture, carvings, ceramics),  Photography, and Folk Art/Crafts (china painting, quilts, crochet, etc.).  Entries must be original artworks.  NO copies of other artwork, “Masterwork” studies, or anything made from kits or commercial molds will be accepted.  Works submitted in previous UAC Competitive Art Exhibitions may not be re-submitted.  Works considered unsuitable for general viewing audience will not be accepted.

Sales:  Artworks can be marked for sale.  Union Arts Council will retain 30% commission on sales.

Liability: Reasonable care will be taken during the Exhibition to ensure that all works are handled safely and kept secure.  Neither the Union Arts Council, (its members or agents), show sponsors, nor the Dance Studio of U.P. are responsible for damage or loss of any works or damages caused by or to displayed works.
